I hope you're well and that the 2019 school year has been a huge success for you.
I wanted to reach out and open communication with your school because I believe some of your students might be interested in joining local volunteer programmes during their school holidays and gap year, and hopefully by working together we can offer them a package that gives them a chance to do good - in a safe environment.
My company works closely with local NPOs and charities, and we keep a high standard of ethics and safety. The specific programme that I have in mind is this one:
---- The Surfer Kids Volunteer Programme Location: Mossel Bay, Western Cape Dates: School holidays, or any other date between 16 Jan and 14 Dec Duration: 2-4 weeks (this can be customised) Price: from R9400, with accommodation, meals and lessons included
Ages: 16 and up (with parental consent)
Overview: Volunteers will spend 2-4 weeks working with the marginalised youth of Mossel Bay, using surfing as a tool to help them create a brighter future for themselves. Description: In order to truly learn surfing, you need commitment and dedication - and that is the life lesson that we want to pass on to the marginalized children of Mossel Bay's rural communities: empowerment, opportunity and success can happen in your life if you bring the commitment and dedication. You can help these kids achieve a better life and future. As a volunteer, you'll be working with the Core Surf Program. Your most important task is providing personal supervision and hands-on assistance to the youngest children in the Core Surf Program - those children who do not yet have the necessary skills and experience to surf or swim unassisted. Volunteers do not need to know how to surf, but you must be confident in swimming. In addition to surfing, you will spend time helping the kids with their school work, playing sports and games on the beach and being a role model that they can look up to when life gets tough. And in the mornings while the kids are at school, you will receive lessons on surfing and how to understand the ocean and the currents from professional instructors. ----
