There is a new pre-University Summer School Program that will be running at the end of December 2018 to the latter part of January 2019. The program aims to give skills and share knowledge with grade 12 learners heading to a tertiary institution in 2019 or those who might be entering the world of work instead. It is based on work done at universities at first year level over the last 20 years.
We have learnt that many learners enter college or university with certain core skills missing and it takes them a few months to get up to speed. For most, by the time they finally see the light a lot of time would have passed by and it is not always easy to catch up.
The program aims to equip and move the graduating grade 12 class from being learners to being students before classes begin. We would like to share more details with the parents, guardians or learners who may benefit from such a program. The announcement of the program was intentionally delayed to allow learners to focus on current exams first as this is a post-matric but pre-university holiday program.
