What are memes?

Author: Florian Kuehn

All the cool kids are talking about it………Memes. It’s like a hype that’s been there for a long time. Some people think it’s some kind of joke with a picture to it. Others try to find the sense behind it. But that’s the thing…memes don’t have any real sense behind them. Take Big Chungus for instance: He is actually Bugs Bunny made fat. He became known through PewDiePie and other Youtubers.

But where did it come from? There is a website called Reddit where people can upload something on a page and that’s where other people can find it. Most sources of memes are from older videos or Movies.

Some memes are funnier than others, I don’t know why, but memes are REALLY funny. They are so simple and easy to make. A lot of people use memes for their videos.

Most children know about memes. They see them on Youtube, used by Youtubers. There are even some people called meme lords. They find memes and edit them together so they can make a video. The biggest meme lords are Grandaay with 700 000 subscribers and FlyingKitty with 1.2 Million subscribers.

On Wikipedia the explanation is: an image, video, piece of text, etc., typically humorous in nature that is copied and spread rapidly by Internet users, often with slight variations. But that’s the complicated way to explain it.
